Computation NDE

Computational NDE | Digital NDE for NDE 4.0

Content

Different nondestructive evaluation (NDE) and structural health monitoring (SHM) methods use different physics and generate different types of data. Thus, it is necessary to understand the NDE / SHM data signature from the respective inspection method to evaluate the material state and health of the component under inspection. Ultrasonic NDE is the most popular and widely applicable NDE method for various engineering and biomedical applications. Improved understanding of sensor signals, and more precisely, the nature of ultrasonic wave propagation in different types of materials (such as isotropic and anisotropic materials) will be helpful for more accurate evaluation of the materials and structures.

i-MAPS has computer codes on the following methods for CNDE: Distributed Point Source Method (DPSM), Peridynamic for elastodynamics (Dr. Banerjee named it Perielastodynamic) & Spectral Element Method (SEM). Please refer Dr. Banerjee's book on 'Computational Nondestructive Evaluation Handbook', published by CRC press in 2020, for more details.
