Prof. Matolak’s team of students—Ph.D. student Zeenat Afroze, and undergraduates Hudson Dye and Nathan Stofik—along with colleague Eddie King, conducted flight tests of the NASA dual-band radios with the South Carolina Civil Air Patrol. Two days of flight testing allowed data collection for multiple new radio modes, including ground site spatial antenna diversity, adaptive modulation, simultaneous L-band and C-band communications, and wideband (5 MHz) C-band transmissions.
