Our mission at iWERS aligns with the nation's research priority in climate adaptation. We are dedicated to advancing scientific knowledge related to water and environmental resource issues, such as flooding. Simultaneously, we are establishing a new generation of smart technologies, accelerating modeling, and creating informative management tools, including innovative smart early warning systems and active flood control infrastructure.
Our endeavor aims to address critical gaps in data availability, contemporary modeling, the need for accelerated flood modeling and data analytics, and the decision-making process. We achieve this by harnessing a wide range of heterogeneous data sources, encompassing distributed data and visual information, real-time model updating, active measurements, and dynamic management strategies.
In addition to our research activities, we are committed to educational and outreach efforts that serve several key objectives. These objectives encompass training the next generation of AI-enabled engineers and scientists, fostering flood-aware communities, and providing information to decision-makers.
