Dr. Banerjee’s research focuses on computational nondestructive evaluation and structural health monitoring, material state awareness, and smart multifunctional systems. His work integrates physics-based modeling, advanced signal processing, and data-driven methods to predict material behavior, detect damage, and monitor structural integrity across multiple scales. Key research areas include computational acoustics and ultrasonics, predictive modeling of wave–material interactions in composites and engineered metamaterials, system identification and surrogate modeling of complex systems, and the development of smart materials for sensing and energy harvesting. His research also explores bio-inspired and programmable materials, leveraging principles from acoustics and biomechanics to design next-generation devices, sensors, and adaptive structures.
