About SDII

Dr. Caicedo's research interest is in smart infrastructure. His research includes both numerical and experimental research in the areas of structural dynamics, model updating, structural health monitoring, earthquake engineering and engineering education. His research has received support from NSF, NIH, NIST, SCDOT, and others. His later work includes uses structural vibrations to perform inference in occupant activity. This is of special interest for health care applications. Dr. Caicedo has served as the chair of the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering since 2018.
