Ensemble Feature Extraction (EFEX) Algorithms and AI for Machine Fault Classification
Duration: 2020-2021
Role: PI
Research Objective: This is SBIR Phase I grant subcontracted to USC. Objective was to develop machine learning (ML) and AI algorithm from vibration data collected from CNC machine that could foretell the failure of the spindle in the machine. Various signal feature extraction method including physics based features were exploited and used successfully. A Python based ML & AI code was developed to generate the early alarm.
DURIP: Real-Time Edge Computing in Structures Experiencing Shock
Duration: 2020-2022
Role: Co-PI
Research Objective: To devise a testbed with microelectronics that could compute the shock event and its effect through edge computing i.e. computing in real time at the devise itself.
Development of Cascading Sensor Layer Network (CSLAN) System for Corrosion Monitoring in Aircraft Structures
Duration: 2009-2011
Role: PI
Research Objective: This Phase I and II SBIR grant Prof. Banerjee received while his tenure at Acellent Technologies Inc (see Resume). Objective was to develop a integrated plug and play system for SHM of multi layered XW cord in F-15 fuel tank. Starting from the creation of a unique and customized sensor network layer for the structure specified to the design of specific ultrasonic Guided wave sensors data analysis software was part of the objective.
