Batteries

Lithium-ion batteries (LIBs) have advantages of high energy density, no memory effect, low self-discharge, and long life span, etc. They are widely used in electric vehicles (EVs), energy storage systems, wearable devices, mobile devices, and many others.

Battery management systems (BMSs) aims to protect battery cells and packs and prolong the life of batteries with functions of LIBs state estimation and prediction, which include state-of-charge (SOC), state-of-health (SOH), remaining-discharge-time (RDT), reaming useful life (RUL), etc.

  • Lithium-ion battery ECM model

Equivalent circuit models (ECMs) have been widely used in industries because of their simplicity and reliability. They have promising results  in describing the overall dynamics of LIBs. The limitations are that ECMs are empirical models. They can not accurately describe battery dynamics in some cases that are far away from the cases in which the parameters are identified.
