Partnership With Siemens

In 2017, Siemens announced an in-kind technology grant valued at $628 million to the University of South Carolina’s College of Engineering and Computing. The investment combines Siemens’ Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) software with automation and controls hardware to create the first-of-its-kind, university based Digital Factory Innovation Lab housed in USC’s McNair Center for Aerospace Innovation and Research.

5G Innovation at USC

The University of South Carolina partnered with Verizon to establish the Innovation Experience Hub, a 5G-powered research and development space inside the McNAIR Center. As part of Verizon’s national network of 5G Innovation Hubs, the space allows USC to explore how 5G Ultra-Wideband connectivity can transform industries such as manufacturing, healthcare, and civil infrastructure. The hub serves as a collaborative environment where students, researchers, and industry partners can test real-world applications using the fastest commercial connectivity available.
