After earning his Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from the University of South Carolina in 2025, Maxwell Wisler chose an entrepreneurial path as a self-employed reseller of used auto parts. He sources components from self-service salvage yards, personally removes and refurbishes them, and sells them online, managing everything from testing and repairs to packaging and shipping.
Maxwell credits his engineering degree with giving him the confidence to pursue his own business, knowing he has a strong technical foundation to rely on. Through his senior design project, he discovered he enjoys working hands-on which directly shaped his career direction.
His advice to current students: take niche engineering courses to explore different areas of the field and better determine how you want to use your degree.
