Empowering the Next Generation of Industry 4.0 on Campus

Utility

At C4IS, we’re partnering with IBM and USC’s Facilities team to transform how utility-infrastructure is managed, monitored and optimized. This initiative, the digitization of four major utility plants across the USC Columbia campus leverages IoT instrumentation, cloud-integration and advanced asset-management platforms to usher in a new era of facility health and operational intelligence.

By outfitting legacy equipment with sensors, IoT devices and networked connectivity, we’ll capture real-time data that feeds directly into sophisticated enterprise tools (including IBM’s Maximo suite) and cloud analytics. The result? A unified digital view of the utility plants with predictive insights and proactive maintenance capability, delivered through beautifully designed dashboards and mobile interfaces.

This result would not only result in a unique facilities digitization and upgrade, but will also represent a bold step into Industry 4.0: smart systems, connected assets, data-driven decisions. For the university environment, this means greater efficiency, reduced downtime, extended equipment life and a healthier, more resilient campus infrastructure. For students, staff and industry partners alike, it’s a living laboratory of next-gen asset management.

In working with IBM and USC, C4IS is helping put facility operations at the forefront of digital transformation, where machines talk, data drives action, and utility plants become intelligent infrastructure.
